peter murphy

The focus of my work is painting and relief carvings in lime-wood or oak. In addition to my fine art practise I have worked on commercial design and private commissions, a local example being a relief carving for the Childrens’ Hospice at Charlton Farm, Wraxall. North Somerset.

1987/8 Co-selector and exhibitor in 'British Relief Woodcarving', organised by Merseyside Arts, with support from the Henry Moore Trust and the Arts Council.
Co-author of catalogue essay, 'On Relief Woodcarving; historical survey and contemporary use.'
1987 Research into British relief woodcarving with Polytechnic Research Committee support
1981 British Council funded tour of art schools and academies in the Soviet Union.
